Companies Collaborate on Digital Video Archive Solution
StorageTek(R) announced this week at NAB 2001 its alliance with ManagedStorage International and Front Porch Digital Inc. for the production of an end-to-end digital video archive solution that enables high-quality, low-cost digitization and storage of analog videos.
The companies said the digital video archive solution will give customers heightened capabilities to manage their video assets with fewer resources. They claim the affordable archive and digitization of analog videos helps to accelerate development life cycles and reduce development costs of new or repurposed content, diminish media decay and open new revenue channels through the video for fee-based services. The solution is expected to boost broadcast stations' ability to meet the 2006 deadline set by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission for producing and broadcasting digitally.
