• I downloaded AVG, and spybot to deal with it. There were like 50 of them, examples of them were

    "Hits Link"

    Ad revolver

    Avenue A Inc.

    Black Core

    Blue Shark

    Tag A Saurus

    Media Plex

    Fast Click

    Hit boy

    Anti-virus pro

    and MANY others.

My Problem is my computer was fried but after I went to 'my computer' I found something which restarted my compter and checked my hard drive for erros and that fixed the problem I've removed all of that spyware and virus junk but now computer is just slow.

Whats the deal and how do i make it run faster other than defragmenting it?

Also, something weird, I have a program called windows Defender I dont know what its deal is but its been running for and hour and hasnt stopped or showed any results, what up wit that.

    thanks in advance.

  • first download a new anti-virus software, like zone alarm it has an good anti-spyware tool . then install it scan for infections. next download Spybot-SD its a free anti spyware/anti mallware its recommended by microsoft but while using it change some settings. 1. click "mode",select advanced mode

    2. click settings, again click settings which appears on left pane.

3.then under system start check the option "run program once at next start up"

    4. close the window and restart the system

while using anti virus , before scan turn off the system resource. use a good firewall .lot of them are available for free .......

  • Windows Defender is Microsoft program that is incorporated with overall system security and updates for it are included in the normal window updates. Personally, I have uninstalled it from my systems it does tend to use precious resources. You can uninstall it through the Add or Remove programs in Control Panel (make sure you have the box checked to Show Updates).

That program can contribute to the drag so can the background running of programs like AVG and if your computer is already dragging prior to installing the program you should look into upgrading overall RAM to as much as you can afford that will make an amazing difference in the smooth performance of your system.

If you didn't try prior to reallocate how your memory is used through Control Panel/System/Advanced{Performance--Setti... Memory----Change} Choose the option to have the System Managed Size then left click the Set button on the right of the option and then click apply and restart. If you have done that already then you can try to remove extra programs you no longer use or don't need but take up unnecessary space. Go back into your msconfig and make sure that the spybot program isn't starting up when you log onto your desktop since AVG, Spybot & Windows Defender all run in the background. You can disable the service for Windows Defender on the Services tab in the msconfig, if you see Windows Defender listed right click on it and choose properties then reset start up type to Disabled and stop the service left click apply and ok until you decide to uninstall it or not. Most likely if you disable the Windows Defender for now and stop Spybot or Adaware(Lavasoft) from running at start up along with reallocating the RAM if it hasn't been done already will ease your pain a little. Disk defrags are just slow and long but should be done at least once a month or twice a month if you use your system alot but no more than that. If all else fails at least run the Analyze option to see if a defrag is needed and if so the simple fail safe answer is much like Nike's philosophy "Just Do It!"

After that try it out and see if any improvement has been made then seriously start shopping for a RAM upgrade for your laptop.....Thanks for the vote of confidence last question you had
