Why doesn't the press investigate John McCain's pathological lying about his time as a POW? Best answer on the web

  • Fisrt, he claims he was offered an early release by the North Viet Namese, but he refused, that NEVER happened. The NV simply were not doing that at the time, and McCain would have no choice in the matter if they wanted to release him.
    Now, he claims he was comforted by a North Viet Namese guard with a cross in the sand. A story NOT told in 1978 in an article from US News and World Report, ridiculous for non Christian Viet Namese to do, and plagarized from a story told by Solzhenitsyn.

After long suffering in the work camp of Siberia, he fell into despair. Like other prisoners, he had worked in the fields day after day, in rain and sun, during summer and winter. His days were filled with backbreaking labor and slow starvation. On a particular day, the hopelessness of his situation became too much. He saw no reason to continue living, to continue fighting the system. He thought that the rest of his life was meaningless since he would most likely die in this Siberian prison.     Laying his shovel on the ground, he slowly walked to a crude work-site bench and sat down. He knew that at any moment a guard would order him to stand up, and when he failed to respond, the guard would beat him to death, probably with his own shovel. He had seen it happen to many other prisoners.

    As he waited, head down, he felt a presence. Slowly, he lifted his eyes and saw a skinny, old prisoner squat down next to him. The man said nothing. Instead, he drew a stick through the ground at Solzhenitsynâ ™s feet, tracing the sign of the Cross. The man then got back up and returned to his work.

    As Solzhenitsyn stared at the sign of the Cross, his entire perspective changed. He knew that he was only one man against the all-powerful Soviet empire. Yet in that moment, he knew that there was something greater than the evil that he saw in the prison, something greater than the Soviet Union. He knew that the hope of all mankind was represented in that simple Cross. And through the power of the Cross, anything was possible.

    Solzhenitsyn slowly got up, picked up his shovel, and went back to work. Nothing outward had changed, but inside, he received hope."

    IT WAS CHRISTMAS DAY, WE WERE ALLOWED TO STAND OUTSIDE OF OUR CELL FOR A FEW MINUTES, AND THOSE DAYS WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SEE OR COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER ALTHOUGH WE CERTAINLY DID. AND I WAS STANDING OUTSIDE FOR MY FEW MINUTES, OUTSIDE MY CELL. HE CAME WALKING UP. HE STOOD THERE FOR A MINUTE AND WITH HIS HANDLE ON THE DIRT IN THE COURTYARD HE DREW A CROSS AND HE STOOD THERE AND A MINUTE LATER, HE RUBBED IT OUT AND WALKED AWAY. FOR A MINUTE THERE, THERE WAS JUST TWO CHRISTIANS WORSHIPPING TOGETHER. I'LL NEVER FORGET THAT MOMENT.

  • Interesting how Dan Rather has been slamed by jealous reporters, so he messed up ONCE, well for years he reported the news as he saw it, When my brother and son were in Vietnam he was right there being shot at like the rest of them so he could tell what was going on, everyone on this planet make many mistakes. Dan Rather is a hero, big time.. Also for thirty years I was a Democrat but seeing and hearing all the disgusting things the Demo's were doing in this country made me change parties for good, forever. For three years the terrorist were planning the destruction of the twin towewrs while the Democrats were in power then just weeks after Bush was elected they struck.


  • Dunno if he's lying or what ( but i dont think so if your source is the Huffington Post LOL!) But, He's trying to use his POW experience to get sympathy and use it as experience and foriegn policy as if that really matters. Being a POW does not automatically qualify you to be president or knowing how to fight wars or in forieng policy in general. He like to say "I know how to win wars" as if he's ever won one. He's never been in charge of a war and we didn't even win vietnam exactly. that old man is full of shlt. It's GREAT he went throught that for his country, and that was some real hell to go through, but come on it means nothing in terms of being president. Sure it shows that he is patriotic but I wouldn't question that anyway.


  • You cannot prove he lied! It is possible that he did, but none of us can prove it! I am just surprised in this day and age that we are holding political forums in churches where a candidate claims he is "saved"! Now THAT is the extension of the unconstitutional process of establishing a religion in America (ref Privacy Act of 1974 that removes official creed data from application information to prove minority creed discrimination).

    No person can ABSOLUTELY KNOW, that JESUS was God or perfect 2000 years ago, and yet that is what Christians are told they must do in order to be "saved"! Therefore, to me, anyone who claims this, has the potential and a higher probability to lie about anything more than a non "saved" person! I don't trust self proclaimed "saved" people any further than I can throw them and I try not to depend on any of their works!

    Too many are caught up in the brainwashing of eternal damnation worship! It is a sick and perverted theology!

Sin is difference, the relative seriousness with regards to law and survival of other beings, is punishable by the courts. The best way to judge is with as much graceful discernment as one can muster in a given moment!

    Life is the question(uncertainty) asked by the exhaling infinitely compacted imagination invention, or no thing, which is completely certain of everything, completely omniscient or all knowing.

    When I die, I believe I will be in a new state, aware of all that is and yet divided into the nature of dust that I am in, whereupon my dust shall fall. My being will remain an infinite part of an infinite being and infinite knowledge without my material human being status of now. So there will be a change.

    But my soul, my passions and discompassions, will move on to infinite places of comfort and challenge. Able to return to this state of uncertainty and free choice illusion for another ride when it is called effectively to do so.

    So that the children of God, the creations of God, .. are actually part in parcel of that God or Creation Energy!
